Anyone who buys a Samsung appliance is asking for trouble. They repeatedly break down, horrible reliability, technicians who refuse to work on them, & the inability to get replacement parts is just the tip of the iceberg. Stay as far as possible away from Samsung and LG. The Koreans make good phones and TVs, but absolute junk with appliances.

I agree about the quality of Samsung refrigerators. The one I had was terrible. The worst thing about it was just cosmetic. The metal they use is super thin and dents easily. Some of the internal plastic shelving wasn't particularly well made either. Broke apart after years of use.
I would disagree about bundling in LG with Samsung for quality though. In my experience, LG makes excellent appliances (esp. laundry machines)

my Lg side-by-side broke twice in the last 6 years. at 3 years the liner compressor stopped working, and this year it compressor stopped working again. Not even bother to fix it, replaced with an GE. //@Anonymous: I agree about the quality of Samsung refrigerators. The one I had was terrible. The worst thing about it was just cosmetic. Save your money for a Kitchenaid mixer, it lasts and also powers add-ons that can grind meat, mill grains, or make noodles.

How's Maytag quality compared to Whirlpool/Samsung/LG?

I replaced Dacor with Maytag. Very happy. Simple function. Works great.

It depends. I have used two of the same Maytag model. One is still working and another one has had a malfunction in the circuit board around 1.5 year (out of warranty), which costs nearly half of the price of the machine. //@Anonymous: How's Maytag quality compared to Whirlpool/Samsung/LG?

Is an infuser espresso machine different than a conventional espresso machine?
Anonymous
they sure make it look like so - supposedly the grounds get soaked with low pressure before the espresso gets extracted with high pressure. must be new thing, better than the old thing in italy :) //@Anonymous: Is an infuser espresso machine different than a conventional espresso machine?

The Japanese and Korean made ones are preferable because you can trust they didn’t use substandard parts or dangerous materials. //@anonymous: Zojirushi's manufacturing facilities in China, Korea, and Japan are all held to the same standards so it is not necessary to mention where they were made. There seems to be a strange cope being spread that Japanese models are better build quality, but Japanese don't have access to strong metals as well as Chinese models.

Who knows? And that’s the risk. It’s just like when they put melamine in milk and baby formula or made baozi out of chemically treated cardboard. They don’t care.

Made in Japan is really not a selling point given the nuclear accident happened years ago. If you are a smart buyer, you will avoid anything made in Japan.

Costco stands by all the products they sell. They do not have in-house installers and use 3rd party contractors under commercial agreements. If they mess up Costco will make it right. All contractors under a blanket agreement are hit or miss bc they might not care after getting tired. Also this is a lower tier dishwasher with less features. You cannot say this represents all their models. Better to compare top of the line downwards not the other way around. As mentioned Whirlpool dishwashers are top notch. //@anonymous: How so?
