WD nowadays is probably only worse //@anonymous: I have experience with 4 external HDD (from 3TB to 8TB). The only one that failed within a year was a Seagate. The other three WD are still working fine after 5+ years.

These days, better have two or three backup instead of one backup. //@Anonymous: We got one before. But it died after a few months. Mailed to the Recovery and was told the damage couldn't be recovered. Lost 2 years important data, including kids videos.
